The city of Saux
This imposing castle with its beautiful garden that looks like a park is situated at about 1 km from the small village of Saux and at 30 km of Cahors, the cultural capital of the department of the Lot. The Chateau (castle) is composed of a main building with two apartments. Next to the Chateau is a yard with different side buildings. The castle is situated in a constructed park of 1 ha within a chapel that has been transformed into a holiday house. This one can also be rented.

Activities in the surroundings
The department of the Lot (also know under the name of Quercy) is situated south west from the Dordogne. The area has been named after the river. In this area you will find an unspoilt landscape, full of memories of a rich past. Traces of this past can be found in the caves of Pech-Merle. Here are paintings of mammoths, bison and other animals. If you like caves, you will have to visit the Gouffre de Padirac, an underground river. In the picturesque village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie you will feel like you are back in Medieval times. The capital of the area is the medieval city of Cahors, famous for its old and famous “Pont Valentré”, the oldest gothic defence bridge of Europe. In the famous wine area of Cahors you will find wine castle along the great river the “Lot”.

The castle has an old interior yard, surrounded by an old castle wall. The wonderful gate with a pigeonnier (a tower room, characteristic for this area) is at the entrance of the yard. The place in front of the entrance of the castle is the ultimate spot of the château. This is where people spent their time during the summer. It offers a wonderful view over the valley, the forests and the church tower. On the domain is a large, secured swimming pool (14x7m). There is a sufficient number of garden furniture, barbecue and a ping pong table. On the domain is also another small apartment for 4 people. Furthermore the tenants of this apartment are entitled to use this swimming pool.
